Nonprofit Finance Fund (NFF) provides financial resources and advice all across the US to help nonprofit organizations achieve their mission, improve their capacity to deliver services and strengthen their communities. NFF provides business analyses, facilities planning, individual technical assistance, and direct lending as well as group trainings, presentations and workshops informed directly from their experience working with non-profits on the ground. The company headquarters are in New York but the 75 staff are spread nationally across the US.
Faced with rising demand, a barrage of funding cuts, and few new revenue prospects nonprofits (including NFF) are looking for new approaches to manage risk, preserve essential community programs, and ensure availability of their services. NFF is currently operating a 7-year capacity building initiative to improve the capitalization of 14 arts education nonprofits. Each individual organisation gathers massive amounts of data that are continually updated and monitored. There are 4 primary sources of data: 1) Annual audited financial statements , 2) Annual survey information, 3) Monthly deposits into bank accounts used for savings, and 4) Periodic withdrawals from those accounts. Different pieces of the data are collected by staff members across 4 different locations: San Francisco, Detroit, Philadelphia and New York.
After the information is collected, it then needs to be analyzed and shared with their funding partner in a way that it could be continually monitored and viewed through a secure site by NFF and/or their funders at any time, 24/7. As Angie Francis, senior associate at NFF explains:
BIME was implemented to meet these needs. Currently, three NFF staff members execute the analysis within BIME as well as three named viewers at the funder’s office.
BIME gives NFF an incredibly flexible platform to update, manipulate and present their data across multiple geographies and staff members.
“In addition to the fantastic price we love BIME’s seamless integration into so many key programs: google docs and the embed codes for easy use on websites. We most appreciate the phenomenal customer service. When trying to link so much data across so many different programs, you are bound to run into glitches--but the support team at Bime has always gone above and beyond to help smooth out the glitches and ensure that our data is working for us.”
Many thanks to Angie and Nonprofit Finance Fund for this testimonial.
