1. AVINASH KAUSHIK
A great starting point for anything to do with web analytics, is Avinash Kaushik. The analytics evangelist for Google, he has a blog titled "Occam's Razor" where you can find a wealth of useful information.

Where better to look for Google Analytics tips than the Google Analytics blog? As expected, here you can find anything from Analytics API to AdWords.. and of course - great stuff on advanced segmentation.

3. VENDOR BLOG - GETELASTIC.COM
Vendor blogs are often a good place to search out information relating to their products, and getelastic.com is no exception. The blog is written by Elastic Path Software, an enterprise ecommerce solutions provider who claim to "eat, breathe and sleep ecommerce".

4. GOOGLE ON YOUTUBE
We found a short video entitled "Advanced Segments in Google Analytics" posted on youtube by Google, which in just two and half minutes will teach you to create and use Advanced Segments in Google Analytics to isolate and analyze specific parts of your traffic.

5. MICHAEL WHITAKER
Heading up Monitus Tools, Michael Whitaker shares his ideas about web analytics for online retailers through his blog which covers web analytics, testing, tweaking and optimizing for e-commerce sites. Here are just a couple of examples of some of his posts about segmentation:
6. KISSMETRICS MARKETING BLOG
KISSmetrics provides actionable metrics for your web-based business. Alongside their product they write a blog, featuring a post entitled "50 Resources for Getting the Most Out of Google Analytics". If you're looking specifically for segmentation, skip down to "new and advanced features" (number 41) to find a list of posts, advanced segmentation ones among them. At number 43 you'll find Google Analytics Advanced Segmentation: The Allegory of the Cave, an interesting approach describing the Advanced Segmentation features through Socrates The Allegory of the Cave.
7. LUNAMETRICS BLOG
A gold mine for posts about segmentation in Google Analytics (albeit some are a little out-dated). Written by Lunametrics, a web analytics and website conversion consultancy, they tell some of the different ways of segmenting your data:

One of the top read analytics blogs, Web Analytics World by Manoj Jasra gives insight into Search Marketing, Technology and Web Analytics. Here is a nice little post about how to create a segment that includes only AdWords traffic and then how to refine that segment to include only a specific set of keywords: Google Adwords Segmentation Video.
